Compromised email addresses is a subject you see in the news every now and again, and it usually makes you change your password. If you are worried about your account, you can start using HackCheck to make sure it's secure or if it's time for another password change. The software lets you know if your account is among the ones that got compromised. Additionally, you can check to see if your password is secure enough or if it's another weak password that got breached.

HackCheck is free to try without any significant restrictions. It works on all modern Windows platforms, and some older ones as well. You can install it in under a minute, without making any complex configurations along the way. Also, there is no need to install any special tools or services before running the application.

The software comes with a simple user interface, and you don't have to do much to figure out if your account is secure or not. All you have to do is click a button and type in your email address. This will add it to a list, on the main window, along with a color-coded indicator, which tells you if everything is in order or if there are alarms you need to look at. Of course, almost everyone has more than one email account nowadays, which is why HackCheck lets you add multiple addresses to its watchlist.

If there are alarms associated with one of your accounts, you can double click the red indicator to bring up the details on the same interface. The alarms consist of short extracts from articles about various breaches. Of course, the application doesn't just show you random article extracts. It only displays them if your account is affected by that particular event. The best part is that HackCheck constantly checks for breach-related articles and verifies whether your account is affected or not, while working quietly in the background.

Suggestions are also displayed with each articles, but they almost always consist of the same tip: change your password. Besides its normal monitoring functionality, the software can check if a password is secure or not, so you don't have to wait for a breach to figure out if you should change your password. All you have to do is type it in on a small window, and HackCheck will immediately tell you if it's secure or if it's been breached.

HackCheck is all the preparation you need to avoid losing your email account when a new breach occurs.

Pros

The application lets you know when a security breach occurs and if your email account is affected. It can monitor multiple accounts at once. There is no need to log in or associate an account with its password in any way.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention.
